Karen and Sophie


Sophie is a Border Collie Labrador mix adopted from a dog rescue organization in June of 2011. She and Karen obtained their level 2 wilderness air scenting certification with RMRD in fall of 2012 and her level 1 air scenting certification shortly there-after. Karen and Sophie have attended air scenting, trailing and/or human remains detection seminars in Idaho (NAPWDA), Wyoming (Kocher method), Colorado (NAPWDA) and Arizona (NASDN) and a NASAR affiliated HRD seminar recently held here in Provo, Utah. Karen is an RN, and currently works in mental health research at the University of Utah.

Rocky Mountain Rescue Dogs (RMRD) Wilderness/Area Level 2 Certification (testing standard; 160 acres, 1 subject, 3 hours)
Rocky Mountain Rescue Dogs (RMRD) human remains detection certification (testing standard; 20 acres, large source, 1 hour)
Rocky Mountain Rescue Dogs (RMRD) human remains evidence detection certification (testing standard; 4 - 1 acre areas, buried,elevated,ground, blank areas 1/2 hour time limit in each station)
National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR) Sartech ll certification
